Each student works from a Student Learning Plan (SLP), which is a kind of grade-levelled overview outlining all curricular areas to be covered through the school year. An SLP for each student must signed and returned to me in order to complete enrollment at EBUS and receive funding. To review the starter SLP for your child, go to http://www.ebus.ca/slp.
We have developed an SLP for each Grade from K-7 - but keep in mind that these documents are just a guide and are not 'set-in-stone' documents once you sign them and send them to me. Families are welcome (and in fact encouraged) to add to and/or modify SLPs to accommodate individual interests, opportunities, and learning needs. For example, families with more than one elementary-aged child with EBUS often choose to combine learning in certain areas (e.g. Social Studies, Science, PE) and teach all of their children the same content, rather than trying to run separate programs for each grade. So, as you go through the SLP, make note of additions/changes you might find will work best for your child(ren) and include these in the document.
Meeting the requirements for a signed SLP is easy, just follow these steps:
- Open the SLP for your child's grade
- Save the SLP to your computer
- On the top of the first page, type in your child's name, the date, and my name, Geneva Scoville (I'm the OLT: Online Teacher)
- Type your (parent/guardian's) name where it says 'Signed'
- Go through the document and feel free to add anything you would like regarding topics covered, resources, used, etc. You don't have to add anything, but you can.
- Fill out the Financial Allocation page (last page of the SLP) - details on how to do this are in the previous tab on the left
- Re-save the SLP to your computer, making sure to give it a clear name (e.g. Doe, John SLP Gr. 1 2011-12)
- Email the SLP to me at [email protected]
Once you have sent me your SLP signed and with the Financial Allocation page filled out, your Visa card will be ordered (unless you have enrolled in October or later in the school year - then your card and funding will not be available until February).
