My name is Geneva Standbridge, and I'm an Intermediate (4-7) Teacher here at EBUS. Some of my hobbies include reading, drawing, photography, and playing games/cards. I also moonlight as a volunteer figure skating judge at competitions and test days around the province. After the hecticness of my wedding a year ago in August 2012, this summer seemed much more relaxed, although I still got out a lot including road trips to Portland and Seattle with my daughter, Carly, for the Harry Potter convention Leaky Con and to meet Chris Colfer (Kurt in Glee) at his third book release/signing. We also all met as a family in Lac La Hache for the 11th? year in a row (none of us can remember exactly what year we started doing this yearly trek!) for some camping and swimming. I even made it up to northern Alberta for a cousin's wedding. Carly continues her studies at Kelowna's Centre for Arts and Technology, she started in April and goes for 18 months to complete her program in Graphic Design and Web Publishing, I feel lucky to have had the chance to get to see her so often during her first summer away. It was truly a fun and wonderfully busy summer!
One of the things I like most about being an EBUS teacher is being able to share my love of books with students by doing Novel Studies through our online classroom called 'Vclass'. Just like so many of my students, I really enjoy the fantasy genre, and so have been lucky to share many fantastic books with them over the years. I usually do one primary and one intermediate novel study each term - to see which books I'm doing now, go to my Vclass Valley website: http://vclassvalley.weebly.com . I've also been able to do live online interviews with authors such as Kenneth Oppel and Eoin Colfer. I even got to meet Eoin while on a trip to England in 2009, a true highlight for a booklover like me!

Here is just one of Carly's projects for school, this was done using Illustrator on her computer - I like to think of Merida as a red-headed version of Carly! ;)
